Alright well I've been here for a while and it has been quite the adjustment.
My host family is so sweet, I have three brothers and three sisters and I get to live with Antoinette. Our sisters love to take us out and show us around Yoff and answer any questions we have. There is a little language barrier (they only speak French and Wolof) but it has gotten easier with time and practice.
Classes have officially gotten started. We had a few days of orientation and a little struggle with scheduling (constant black outs make lectures and planning a little difficult...) but it looks like we have some solid footing. We also started to break up into our research groups for Geude, I'm doing gender with Jenny and I'm hoping to look into health related issues or education.
It's really HOT here, and I eat fish and rice (ceebu jen) every day. The beach is amazing, the water is really nice, and I have become addicted to a French dubbed Indian soap opera.
More to come later...
