Cesta Basica Sustentavel (Sustainable Food Basket)
Help end poverty, improve the nutrition of children and families, protect biodiversity, decrease deforestation in Brazil!
Cesta Básica Sustentável (CBS) promotes the consumption of nutritional products sustainably cultivated by small farmers and harvested in Brazilian forests.
Tax-Deductable
This new eating habit that values foods from Brazil’s biodiversity will be made popular through a Museum exhibit showing photos of kids from the Amazon, Atlantic Forest, Cerrado and Caatinga with the foods that compose the Sustainable Food Basket of each region. We are implementing a healthy nutritional diet for all Brazilians, especially the low-income communities, replacing the conventional food basket.
CBS values health, small farmers, agroecology and biodiversity, making this model a blueprint that other countries can adopt.
GOALS
To shift cultural habits of consumption valuing the nutritious sustainable food products of the most endangered biomes of Brazil – Caatinga, Cerrado, Atlantic Forest and Amazon – by creating a Pilot model in each region that provides farm to table food from Brazil’s biodiversity that guarantees optimal health and educate the population through an educational campaign that involves a traveling Museum exhibit, Chefs, schools, and media communicators to impact the population.
